Circle 8
When one is insufficiently developed,
One cannot wait for the payment for very long,
and chooses to work with an instantaneous reward,
even if for a lower price
A more developed person
might wait and choose works that pay better,
even if the payment comes
After a very long time.
Know that this is the standard for the sages,
for it depends on the material development of each one,
And anyone who can prolong the repayment
can get a bigger reward.
Baal HaSulam, “The Quality of the Wisdom of the Hidden in General”
According to our path, the meaning is that
We have two paths—
Either to follow the path of those who come
to the Creator,
whose path is the path of bestowal,
or a path that leads to people,
which is the reception,
Since creatures are called “creatures”
only concerning reception and self-love,
which comes to us from
The center of creation.
In that respect,
There was a Tzimtzum (restriction) and concealment,
So, in this place, it is not evident
that the whole earth is FULL of His glory
Since it is possible to attain
that the whole earth is full of His glory
Only when one exits the place of reception
But before exiting the reception,
One can only believe that it is so.
To be able to feel this,
We have been advised to exit the place of reception,
which is the place of
darkness and death.
That is,
The light of life
cannot appear although it is present,
But it is hidden from man, and one who reaches that place
It is separated from the source of life.
Therefore,
That place is called
“darkness and death,”
And all kinds of calamities are present there.
This is called
Sitra Achra (the other side),
meaning it is the opposite of
Kedusha (holiness)
A place of Kedusha,
is called a “place of bestowal,”
It is a place of equivalence of form
Therefore,
In that place,
All delight and pleasure appear,
Since it is a place of blessing and sanctity.
Rabash: The Life of Sarah, Article No. 7, Tav – Shin – Mem – Hey, 1984-85
"Come and See"
Each day,
When a person digs the foundation,
He digs into the depths of the ground
and does not go back to
working on what he has already worked on yesterday.
But the progress is in deepening,
and the measure of the depth of the digging
is until he receives a genuine need for the Creator’s help,
to help him have the desire to work to bestow
“Penny by penny
accumulates into a great amount.”
Finally,
from all the digging, he arrives at such a depth
that it is possible to build a building on it
That is worthy of being rewarded,
With all the lights of his soul,
With which one should be rewarded.
RABASH, Article No. 16 (1988), “What Is the Foundation on which Kedusha [Holiness] Is Built?”
It is known that the purpose of creation is
His desire to do good
to His creations,
meaning that all created beings will feel
that they are receiving delight and pleasure
from the Creator.
However,
for the Creator’s will to be carried out
with the wholeness of the goal,
meaning that there would be no shame,
There was a correction called “Tzimtzum (restriction) and concealment.”
Meaning that
there was a restriction and concealment
on two actions:
1. The Creator Himself is concealed from us,
And we must believe that He is treating us
With private providence over all creations.
2. The true delight and pleasure are in the 613 Mitzvot.
However, this too is hidden,
And we must believe
That it is where we will find delight and pleasure.
Still,
This concealment was only
for the benefit of the created beings,
So there would be no shame
over the reception of delight and pleasure,
meaning that the creatures would not feel
shamed when receiving,
because it feels like the opposite of the Creator.
What Are a Blessing and a Curse in the Work? Article No. 42, Tav-Shin-Nun, 1989/90
Before a person qualifies himself
to be fit to receive wholeness,
He cannot see the length of the way that he has
already traversed on his way toward the goal of wholeness,
For only at the end of his work will he be able to see,
but not midway,
Since he will not be able to receive His abundance
Before he has completed Kelim,
That is ready for it.
This is why we must brace ourselves and say
that we are already near the king’s palace,
For every penny joins
into a great amount,
and perhaps soon
We will see that the gate is open before us,
And we will be rewarded with entering and delighting
With the king.
RABASH, Letter No. 65
We must always consider the goal,
which is to “do good to His creations.”
If the evil inclination comes to a person
and asks him all of Pharaoh’s questions,
He should not reply with lame excuses, but say,
“Now, with your questions,
I can begin with the work of bestowal.”
This means that we should not say
about the question of the evil inclination
that it came to us to lower us from our degree
On the contrary,
Now it is giving us a place to work,
by which we will ascend the degrees of wholeness.
That is, any overcoming in the work is called
“walking in the work of the Creator,”
Since each penny joins into a great amount.”
That is,
all the times we overcome accumulate to a certain measure
required to become
A kli for the reception of abundance.
RABASH, Article No. 22 (1985), “The Whole of the Torah Is One Holy Name
"Come and See"
It is known that our vessels
come from the shattering
of the vessels
This breaking means that we want to use
The vessels of reception to receive,
And this is considered separation
from the Creator.
By working with our desires to receive—which come from there—
in order to bestow,
We correct a piece of these vessels each time,
which are in the Klipot (Shells),
And we elevate them to Holiness
When we want to work only to bestow
contentment to the Creator.
Each time and every day,
Slowly, parts of the Klipot
—called “for the sake of receiving”—
are clarified.
They are corrected
so they may be used for the sake of
bestowal.
The order is that one part is elevated to Kedusha,
And then we descend to a state of reception once more,
and even forget that there is a matter of bestowal.
But then we receive an ascent once again,
We take the part of the desire to receive in us, overcome it,
and correct it to work for the sake of bestowal.
This repeats each time
until we acquire a certain measure
of reception that has received
The correction of bestowal.
In that sense,
There will be room
for the upper abundance to enter.
This vessel is made by adding all the ascents one has
In this vessel. as it is written:
“Penny by penny adds up to a great amount.”
Rabash – Why Is the Festival of Matzot Called “Pesach”? Article No. 13, 1987
This lack that a person begins to feel,
that he cannot work for the sake of the Creator,
is called a Kli [vessel]
meaning,
a need for someone to help him,
have a desire to work
for the sake of the Creator
The help he receives from above
is regarded as the Creator helping him,
which is regarded as “light.”
Those two appear one at a time, and not at once.
This is why it was said,
“Man’s inclination
overcomes him every day.”
That is,
The light and the Kli
are not completed in one day.
Rather,
it is as it is written,
“Penny by penny, join into a great amount,
until the Kli
receives the full measure of the lack
that is suitable to receive light in full.
RABASH, Article No. 17 (1989), “What Is the Prohibition to Greet Before Blessing the Creator, in the Work?”
This means that one must unify everything with the Creator,
That is, even the exits come from Him.
And when one is rewarded,
He sees that both the exits and the entries
—All came from Him.
This is the meaning of patience.
Lowliness exists in everyone,
But not every person feels that lowliness is something good.
Therefore,
One does not want to suffer
Shamati 121. She Is Like Merchant Ships
The work of the Creator
requires great persistence,
Whatever happens to him
Remember this well,
For you will need it very much
As you begin the work of the Creator
It requires great tenacity, and to be strong and brave,
to brace oneself and stand still,
Even if you are dropped down
every time
You must not allow yourself to fall off altogether,
for it is necessary to experience all those falls, descents,
and confusions before entering the gates of Kedusha [holiness],
and the true righteous, too, have gone through all of it.
